About MVAW
MVAW is a spanish Art studio based in Madrid founded by spanish architect and artist Mariana Vilallonga in 2016.
Mariana has always had a great interest on the foreign, having lived and worked in different cities such as San Diego, Rio de Janeiro or Paris.
During her stay in Paris she worked at Shigeru Ban's studio (2014 Pritzker price winner), a well-known japanese Architecture firm. For the first six months she worked making architecture models, which required a lot of ability, patience and strenght.
Mariana's Art work is the result of this japanese artisan work combined with her interest in architecture and travelling.
Her work clearly reflects this passion, as it is mainly composed of abstracted city site plans.
These plans are transformed and distorted from reality by introducing new colours and techniques, giving as a result a suggestive abstract painting.
